A letter from our New Member Educator
When I first visited to Indiana State, I immediately knew it was the school I was meant to be at. I had a feeling ISU was going to be not only my college but my home away from home for the next four years. I didn’t truly know why until I met my sisters in Alpha Phi. I became the new member educator because there is no better feeling in the world, and I want to share that with every new member.
We have a six week new member education program starting with running home to Alpha Phi on Bid Day and ending with initiation. Each week the new member educator will have an interactive lesson plan that will guide the new member through everything Alpha Phi, along with support and tips on how to stay ahead and succeed in their first year at college.
Also, each week new members will be paired with a current member referred to as their “Ivy”. The Ivy’s job is to help the new member feel at home and meet people within the chapter. There are plenty of activities where you can meet and greet and do fun activities with one another as well as find someone who you can eventually call your Future Big Sister. A Big is often one of the new members previous Ivy’s that they felt especially comfortable with. Your Big will give you help and guidance as you continue your college experience, just like a real big sister would.
Though times may become stressful in college, being a new member shouldn’t be one. Through new member education, our goal is that you will learn absolutely everything you need to know on how to be a strong, independent Alpha Phi woman. Most importantly, you will find those who can help you through it all and join the lifelong memories that Alpha Phi has in store for you.
Sincerely,
Allie Greiner
